Interactive tool helps navigate sea of capital projects
Tuesday, October 8, 2019 by Tai Moses
The city has updated an interactive tool to help Austinites navigate through the myriad capital projects and programs under construction in the city. The previous iteration of the Capital Projects Explorer was limited to projects of the 2016 Mobility Bond. The tool has now been expanded to include information on all capital projects in the community, regardless of their source of funding, that are now in construction or will be in construction within the next six months. Categories include housing, water, mobility infrastructure, park amenities and facilities. A zoomable map shows where the project is located, and clicking on the project icon brings up more information, such as a description, project budget, the start and end dates of construction and contact info. Just a word of caution: The Capital Projects Explorer can be rather addictive, leading you down a rabbit hole of information-gathering. Consider yourself warned.
