Happy Hispanic Heritage Month

On Wednesday, the Austin Independent School District will kick off its districtwide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which highlights Hispanic diversity throughout the district, with a performance by Cunningham Elementary´s Cobras’ Ballet Folklorico and the Crockett Early College High School mariachi band. According to a press release about the event, “Superintendent Paul Cruz will recognize the rich Hispanic cultures represented within AISD, followed by guest speakers Consul General of Mexico Carlos González Gutiérrez and President & CEO of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Luis Rodriguez.” The program will be presented in Spanish with English interpretation services available, and it all goes down at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Cunningham Elementary School (2200 Berkeley Ave.).
