Hack to the future
Tuesday, May 31, 2016 by Kayleigh Hughes
Hackers, start your engines … for a cause. Mayor Steve Adler is set to invite Austinites to participate in the fourth annual ATX Hack for Change event during a conference at City Hall on May 31. Adler will be joined by Co-Founder of ATX Hack for Change and Vice President of Information Technology at St. Edward’s University David Waldron, as well as past ATX Hack for Change project champion Jessica Gilzow. The group will discuss the importance of the event, which celebrates the National Day of Civic Hacking established by the Obama administration in 2012 and allows locals to develop creative tech solutions for social and community issues. The 2016 ATX Hack for Change will occur June 3-5, and all members of the community, including “community organizers, nonprofit groups, educators, government employees, writers, graphic artists, project managers and techies,” are encouraged to participate. The ATX Hack for Change news conference will take place at 10 a.m.
