Sidewalk improvements coming to West Campus
Wednesday, May 13, 2020 by Tai Moses
West Campus residents who enjoy walking will be happy to learn about some of the changes coming to their part of the city. According to an announcement from the Transportation Department, construction will start this month on pedestrian improvements in the West Campus neighborhood. The upgrades are focused on “improving safety, connectivity and access for pedestrians by rehabilitating sidewalks, improving curb ramps and filling in gaps in the existing sidewalk network,” courtesy of funding from the 2016 Mobility Bond. “The improvements will be made to portions of Nueces, 25th, 27th and Guadalupe streets. Similar pedestrian improvements were made along areas on 24th, 25th, 26th and Nueces streets last year.” The work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and possibly on some weekends too, and should be wrapped up by summer.
