Gallo corrects campaign report
Thursday, October 13, 2016 by Jo Clifton
As the Austin Monitor reported Wednesday, City Council Member Sheri Gallo’s campaign finance report showed that she had received more than $46,000 in contributions between July 1 and Sept. 29, but it also showed that she had no money in her campaign account. Suspecting an error somewhere, the Monitor speculated that she still had more than $32,000 in the bank. Gallo called Wednesday to explain that her previous filing was erroneous and that she had filed a correction showing that she has $65,832 in her account. Her closest opponent in the fundraising category, Alison Alter, reported that she has about $50,000 in the bank. A third candidate, Rob Walker, lags behind, with about $4,000 in the bank. A fourth candidate in the race, Nicholas Virden, had apparently still not filed a report by late Wednesday. In the District 2 race, Council Member Delia Garza is far ahead of her two opponents, with nearly $17,000 in the bank. Challenger Casey Ramos got his paperwork in on Wednesday. He reported political expenditures of $478, with $2 maintained as of the end of the reporting period. The other challenger in the race, Wesley Faulkner, reported that he had about $770 at the end of September.
