From PUDs to KOs
Monday, December 19, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
Austin Monitor staffers were biting their nails last week in anticipation of former Monitor reporter and occasional pinch editor Josh Rosenblatt surely getting his face smashed in, or at least his typing fingers out of joint, at the hands of one Jon Potts – but now we’re just feeling bad for Potts. The two faced off Friday night in Long Island for Rosenblatt’s long-awaited MMA debut. (That’s mixed martial arts, for those not in the know.) One needed only to blink an eye to miss the action. Rosenblatt knocked his opponent out with one punch, just two minutes and 42 seconds after stepping into the octagon. The unequivocal triumph at the fist of one of our own was almost as mystifying as the “Vape Snapchat” ad looming behind Rosenblatt’s raised arm as he was announced the victor. As far as we know, Rosenblatt has not left the fold entirely. He may not be writing about PUDs much these days, but word is that he will at least return to a sedentary lifestyle long enough to write a book about the fight and whatever it is that possessed him to do it in the first place.
