Electric Utility Commission elects new leaders
Tuesday, May 12, 2020 by Jessi Devenyns
It’s that time of the year when commissions vote on new leadership for the next 12 months. On May 11, the Electric Utility Commission unanimously voted on its new leadership. Chair Cary Ferchill will be stepping down and will be replaced by former Vice Chair Marty Hopkins, who was elected unanimously by the commission. “I think it’s kind of a natural succession,” Ferchill said when he nominated and voted for the new chair. Hopkins’ role of vice chair will be filled by Dave Tuttle, who was likewise elected by a unanimous vote. Both the new chair and vice chair will begin their duties at the June commission meeting. Although Hopkins served for a year as vice chair and has experience steering the commission, she saluted Chair Ferchill, saying that going forward, “I have big shoes to fill.”
