East side gains free spay/neuter clinic
Monday, January 9, 2017 by Nina Hernandez
Low-income pet owners have another option at their disposal when it comes to spaying and neutering their pets. In the next three months, an additional free spay/neuter Emancipet clinic will be posted at the Turner Roberts Recreation Center, 7201 Colony Loop. Clinic dates are Jan. 13, Feb. 2, Feb. 17, March 2 and March 17. Emancipet clinics are generally crowded affairs, and space is limited, so the Austin Animal Center is suggesting that pet owners arrive no later than 8 a.m. and noted that many people begin waiting in line at 5:30 a.m. There are seven other clinics; find the nearest one on the city’s website. The clinics also provide free rabies vaccinations and microchips, and, beginning at 10 a.m., other low-cost services such as de-worming and flea and tick prevention will be available.
