Council approves homebuying resolution
Friday, October 7, 2016 by Elizabeth Pagano
Among the other actions taken Thursday, City Council approved a resolution to help middle-income first-time homebuyers. The resolution, sponsored by Council Member Delia Garza, targets people who earn between 80 and 120 percent of the median family income by creating a “housing lending advisory group” that will pursue new lending options, study “creative lending alternatives” in other cities and increase educational outreach for people looking to purchase their first home. “City Council took a big step today toward providing more opportunities for home ownership to more families across Austin, particularly first-time homebuyers,” said Council Member Sheri Gallo in a press release. “As a Realtor and mortgage loan officer in Austin for the past 30 years, I know how important home ownership is for our city and our communities and I am excited about the doors this will open for families.”
