Commissioners Court creates new emergency services district

Wednesday, November 23, 2016 by Caleb Pritchard

Travis County’s Emergency Services District No. 7 has been reborn. On Tuesday, Travis County Commissioners Court voted 4-0, with Commissioner Ron Davis absent, to honor the will of voters who elected earlier this month to establish the new ESD No. 7. The new district’s borders are contained within those of ESD No. 1, which sprawls across much of the northwestern corner of the county. ESD No. 7 includes the cities of Lago Vista, Jonestown and Point Venture. The court called the election in August after hearing from ESD No. 1 Chief Donnie Norman, who reported that the new district will take financial pressure off of his own. The original ESD No. 7 was consolidated into ESD No. 1 back in 2005.
