CityUp showcases solutions
Friday, November 15, 2019 by Chad Swiatecki
Austin CityUp’s recent showcase expo featured presentations from more than a dozen startups and organizations participating in a “reverse pitch” event where city groups shared the top civic issues facing Austin, and their desired outcomes. Affordable housing, homelessness, health care for at-risk communities, wildfire preparedness, public safety, air quality, and technology related to the “Internet of Things” were some of the subject areas discussed by participants in Tuesday’s program at Austin Central Library. CityUp will now help nurture the projects presented to help them establish viable business models, and look for ways to stimulate more smart cities endeavors in Austin. The group is also finalizing its schedule of more civic priorities sessions, as well as hackathons and funding workshops, in 2020.
