City scoots toward crackdown
Monday, July 2, 2018 by Elizabeth Pagano
This week, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department issued a friendly reminder: Motorized vehicles are prohibited on parkland hike-and-bike trails. In a reminder press release, the department cites “an increase in the use of motorized scooters and electric bicycles on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, as well as other parkland.” According to the city code, that is prohibited, with exceptions made for individual Segways (not groups or tours), motorized wheelchairs and the Emma Long Metro Park Motorcycle Trails, which are designated for off-road bike usage.
