City needs help in ATXfloods revamp
Wednesday, December 21, 2016 by Nina Hernandez
The city of Austin put out a call to local designers and developers for help remodeling ATXfloods.com, a website that updates the Central Texas community on road closures and offers other flood safety information. Specifically, the aim is to make sure the existing emergency road closure system is compatible with modern third-party GPS apps (like Google Maps, for instance). With more than 1,500 low-water crossings in Austin and the surrounding counties, the advances could save lives. Especially with Central Texas flash flooding, time and awareness of low-water crossings are both vital. These paid positions include openings for front- and back-end developers as well as interaction designers. Find out more and apply at www.austintexas.gov/innovation-fellows.
