Celebrating Marc Ott
Wednesday, October 12, 2016 by Jo Clifton
Even though one local publication reported that City Manager Marc Ott was leaving Austin without the traditional going-away party, that publication was mistaken. The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce, the Austin Revitalization Authority and the Austin Chamber of Commerce, along with former City Council Member Sheryl Cole and former mayors Lee Leffingwell and Will Wynn, sponsored a party Tuesday night at the Austin Hilton downtown hotel. The Austin Monitor has heard that about 300 people gathered to celebrate Ott’s service to Austin and wish him well in his new job as executive director of the International City/County Management Association. Although Chief Financial Officer Elaine Hart has become interim city manager, Ott told the Monitor that he is not on vacation and will continue to provide advice to the city as a consultant for the rest of the month.
