BASTA sponsors tenants rights summit
Wednesday, September 18, 2019 by Tai Moses
The tenants rights group BASTA (Building and Strengthening Tenant Action) is sponsoring a week of forums and events intended to shed light on some of the difficulties tenants often have to contend with, such as unscrupulous landlords, substandard building conditions, slipshod management practices, public health violations and more. The series, called “The State of the Renter,” aims “to direct our collective attention to the lived experiences of renters and the impact that unhealthy housing has on them.” The series starts Friday, Sept. 20, and wraps up on Thursday, Sept. 26, and includes a documentary film screening, panel discussions, policy forums, a photo gallery, theater performance and more. Find the full schedule of all State of the Renter events here.
