Austin Water goes Platinum
Tuesday, July 17, 2018 by Katy McElroy
Austin Water has announced that it has been given a Platinum certification from the Alliance for Water Efficiency. This means that the utility is in 100 percent compliance with all best practices associated with the American Water Works Association’s rigorous G480 standard, which “shows outcome-oriented practices and policies that go above and beyond established regulations and sets a benchmark for excellence.” There are only two other utilities in the country that are certified Platinum, and Austin Water is the largest agency in the country to receive the designation. Only five utilities in the country have made it through the whole certification process. “Austin Water is proud to have achieved this certification,” said Daryl Slusher, the assistant director of the utility, in the news release. “It is a tribute to our staff and the citizens of Austin who responded to our calls for conservation. Water conservation will remain particularly critical as we face the challenges of climate change.”
