Austin Water announces downtown road closures

Tuesday, May 31, 2016 by Kayleigh Hughes

Austin Water has announced traffic closure updates related to the reclaimed water main construction project currently underway downtown. The construction of the transmission mains will bring reclaimed water, which conserves the drinking water supply and can be used for a variety of nonpotable uses, to downtown Austin. Updates to traffic closures are as follows: The westbound lane of West 10th Street will be closed between West Avenue and Duncan Park for an estimated two weeks, though the eastbound lane will remain open. Over on Red River, lane closures and traffic shifts between East 10th and 12th streets will continue, and the eastbound lane of East 12th Street between Red River and Trinity streets will be closed for approximately four weeks, before those closures shift to the westbound lane of that road segment. Finally, Austin Water notes that motorists and cyclists should use caution in this area and obey all traffic control signs.
