ATD proposes network of neighborhood bikeways
Monday, January 27, 2020 by Tai Moses
Anyone who rides a bicycle knows how enjoyable it is to cycle on a neighborhood bikeway. Neighborhood bikeways are streets where speed limits have been lowered to make them more welcoming – and safer – for cyclists, pedestrians and kids playing in the street. The Austin Transportation Department is currently evaluating streets in Central Austin neighborhoods as part of its plan to create a network of neighborhood bikeways. If you’d like to know more about this process or ask some questions, you’re invited to attend an open house to review a preliminary design and meet the project staff. Thursday, Jan. 30, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Bryker Woods Elementary cafeteria, 3309 Kerbey Lane. Open house materials will be posted online on Jan. 30.
