Annie’s List gives thumbs up to Hinojosa
Monday, May 2, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
Annie’s List, an organization devoted to supporting progressive women in politics, officially endorsed Gina Hinojosa at a luncheon on Friday. Hinojosa, a member (and former president) of the Austin Independent School District board of trustees, won the Democratic primary in March for District 49, the seat that has long belonged to outgoing state Rep. Elliott Naishtat. “Under her watch (at AISD) … she secured millions in funding to help students succeed, and every school in the District met state standards for the first time,” said Annie’s List Executive Director Patsy Woods Martin in an announcement about the endorsement. “We look forward to working with her as she transitions as an education champion on the Austin Independent School Board to one in the Texas House.”
