Austin police host youth soccer tournament
Wednesday, April 6, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
The Austin Police Activity League is hosting a youth soccer tournament this Saturday at which, yes, there will be soccer, but there will also be so much more. According to the city’s announcement about the event, the Austin Police Department is bringing its K-9 unit (doggies!), the bomb squad (robots!), the “Police Hummer” and the “Police Helicopter.” Kids can participate in the tournament for free, and there will be pizza and hot dogs for participants. The event takes place Saturday, April 9, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Gus Garcia Park, 1201 E. Rundberg Lane. For more info, call 512-974-4723 or email paula.aguilar@austintexas.gov.
