Ceremony to celebrate reopening of Vic Mathias Shores
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
A dedication ceremony today will commemorate the reopening of Auditorium Shores’ East Lawn, newly rechristened as Vic Mathias Shores. Improvements to this part of the park are part of an ongoing redevelopment of the area that began with Auditorium Shores West Lawn in 2013. The new name recognizes a longtime chief executive officer of the Austin Chamber of Commerce who held the position from 1957 to 1983. Today’s ceremony, held at 700 W. Riverside Drive, begins at noon.
