Austin joins Green & Healthy Homes Initiative

A compact-signing ceremony this afternoon will launch the city’s involvement in the national Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, an effort to ensure that homes are energy-efficient and free of pests and toxins, such as lead. The event kicks off a collaboration among several city departments and nonprofits, according to an announcement from the city. It will take place at 1 p.m. in the City Hall atrium, 301 W. Second St. Speakers will include Mayor Steve Adler; Ruth Ann Norton, CEO of the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative; and Betsy Spencer, director of the Neighborhood Housing & Community Development Office.
