Register for the Great American Cleanup
Wednesday, February 3, 2016 by Nora Ankrum
In anticipation of this year’s Great American Cleanup, which runs March 1 through May 31, registration is open for organizations that want to participate. The annual Cleanup is a national event in which communities organize volunteer activities to clean parks and waterways, plant trees and beautify public spaces. The event includes the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off on April 9, a partnership between Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation. During last year’s Trash-Off, more than 27,000 volunteers cleared litter and debris from 3,709 miles of highway, according to KTB. Registration for the Cleanup is available on KTB’s website. By registering, local organizations can schedule official events and receive assistance and resources, such as trash bags and promotional volunteer giveaway items.
