Monday, August 25, 2014 by Mark Richardson
The Council Audit and Finance Committee meets at 11 am Wednesday.
In the interest of space, we’ve decided not to post the entire agenda here. The city hosts a copy at its website.
Items of interest for Wednesday’s meeting include:
3. Staff presentations on financial planning for each taxing jurisdiction in the City of Austin including the City of Austin, Austin Community College, the Central Health District, Austin Independent School District, and Travis County.
The Audit staff will present information on financial planning practices of each of the taxing entities in Austin, looking at how their practices affect the overall tax rate.
4. Presentation and discussion of the Quarterly Financial Update, which summarizes the Fiscal Year 2014 financial status through June 30, 2014 for the General Fund, Austin Energy, and Austin Water Utility.
The City Auditor will report on Second Quarter finances of the general fund, Austin Energy and Austin Water Utility. The report will look at the balance sheet of the city’s main operations fund and its two city-owned utilities.
8. Status report on the Quarterly Water Treatment Plant 4.
The auditors will discuss the finances of the Austin Water Utility’s Water Treatment Plat 4 project, which is nearing completion near Lake Travis. There could be discussion of whether the project is likely to come in at or near its budget.
