That’s in response to @GregCasar ‘s concerns that automation could replace jobs, and the impact that could have on working class people. August 10, 2017 10:46 AM
“Please be broader in your pilots” requests CM Houston. Spillar says the pilot will be in her District 1 in Mueller (which is in District 9) August 10, 2017 10:50 AM

austinmonitor “Actually, as Troxclair just pointed out, the motion for reconsideration usually comes from the prevailing side”
In this case, it’s weird, because the side with fewer votes won, so they are taking a minute to research things further. August 10, 2017 03:00 PM
Okay, that case is done. #atxcouncil will now be in recess until 4:00, for public hearings. I think the gen plan is coming up at 6:30? August 10, 2017 03:16 PM

There’s a new rule about limiting speakers’ times, but it can be suspended. And now this, which was fairly predictable. August 10, 2017 04:34 PM
Khalil Shalabi up now with the resource plan update. As a reminder, Council isn’t expected to vote until the mayor and Renteria are back. August 10, 2017 04:44 PM

Austin City Council: The Austin City Council is the body with legislative purview over the City of Austin. It offers policy direction, while the office of the City Manager implements administrative actions based on those policies. Until 2015, the body contained seven members, including the city's Mayor, all elected at-large. In 2012, City of Austin residents voted to change that system and as of 2015, 10 members of the Council are elected based on geographic districts. The Mayor continues to be elected at-large.
