Austin Mayor says no bond election on rail this year

After lengthy consideration, Mayor Lee Leffingwell has decided that the City of Austin will not be ready to proceed with an urban rail election in November. It appears that a majority of the City Council agrees with him that there is insufficient time to gather the data the city needs in order to put the question before voters this fall. However, it is likely that voters will be asked to make decisions on other transportation related bonds.
